I haven't had the time to play much in the BBT3, but I know how things are going simply based on what I'm reading these days. Here's what I think, at this point, in a nutshell:
Enjoy the BBT3, because if people's behavior doesn't improve, then it'll be the last one that Al organizes.
What's the point of doing all of the footwork, negotiating with a poker site, and doing the leaderboard if people are going to be disrespectful and drive people away from the tournaments?
That's already happening and it's only the first week of April.
Why should Al bother if this is the end result? What does he owe the people who are bitching, never mind anyone else who's playing?
Nothing.
Zip.
Zero.
Al put this thing together because everyone dug the prizes from the BBT2 and it was a success because people still showed up and had fun.
At this point, please note again that it's the beginning of April, not very many people are having fun and people are starting to not show up.
Think about that for a second. Think about all of the prizes that Al's set up for the BBT3 and how little it means in the grand scheme of things since people would rather walk away from all that money than deal with immature, "my game doesn't suck, everyone else's does", assholes.
Bloggers aren't "normal" poker players. They never have been. The whole point of Blogger tournaments was to get together, hang out, and have fun.
I don't see "If there's a lot of money available, I can act like a complete asshole" in that last statement and I'm trying to figure out how some people have done the mental gymnastics to pull that off.
Yes, the skill level is higher than your average tournament and Bloggers obviously want to take shots at big tournaments. But, if the cost of setting up big prizes for Bloggers is that some people treat everyone else like complete shit, then what's the point?
It really sucks that some bad apples could ruin the possibility of more chances for awesome prizes down the road, but if Al decides that this is the swan song for the BBT, I won't blame him for making that decision at all.

And you can witness all this being fairly obvious while not even taking part in much of the BBT3... it amazes me how the guilty assclowns don't see the error in their ways!?
I too am curious of what Al's motivation would be to go through all the work again, when such disrespect persists.
Like I mentioned in my comment to Jordan's latest post, I treat the BBT3 events like I would a buddy's home game, with respect. I don't understand how people are comfortable treating these events like anything other. If you wouldn't say something specific out loud at a friend's home game, then you shouldn't say it within a BBT3 chat room. ... Just my two cents...
